11th Annual Heroes in Sisters Ski/Snowboard Weekend

**REGISTRATION OPEN FOR 11th ANNUAL HEROES IN SISTERS!**

Heroes-in-sisters-2015

January 19 – 21, 2018

The Heroes in Sisters weekend is one of OAS’ largest and most popular events of the winter.  The purpose of the event is to honor Pacific Northwest Veterans with permanent physical disabilities and their families, and to have a great time skiing and snowboarding.   Lodging in Sisters, Oregon is provided at no cost to the participant and their immediate family (spouse/significant other/children) for Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20 (one room per participant and family).

NEW IN 2018! “Heroes Helping Heroes” Mentorship Program

If you are a Veteran who has participated in previous Heroes in Sister’s events, we are inviting you to spend an additional day with OAS at Hoodoo to learn how to volunteer to serve as a mentor for first time participants.

We have space for only 5 returning Heroes to participate in this program, you can indicate your interest in the “Returning Participants” registration form below.

The Heroes Helping Heroes program includes lodging Thursday night if needed in Sisters, OR and a full day of training at Hoodoo with OAS Staff.  Again space is very limited, only 5 spots available for this program.

Mentors will have discussions on how they can help facilitate the best weekend possible for their fellow Veterans.  You do not need to be a fully independent skier, but rather be willing to share in a fellow Veteran’s experience and encourage their full participation in the weekend.

Remaining Schedule for the Heroes in Sisters Weekend:

Friday, Jan 19th:

Dinner and a meet’n’greet with OAS volunteers and instructors in Sisters, Oregon provided by OAS.

Saturday, Jan 20th:

Ski/snowboard day at Hoodoo, starting promptly at 9am with an all-participant/volunteer/instructor meeting.  The on-snow portion of the day will include ski/snowboard instruction, equipment, lunch, and a group photo.  *The primary focus of the event is to assist veterans with disabilities with snow sports.  OAS will attempt to provide snow sports opportunities to family members to the best of our ability.

Sunday, Jan. 21st:

Day #2 on-snow!  Full day ski/snowboard experiences available, lunch provided.
