OAS offers adaptive paddling lessons and tours for all abilities.  Experiences are catered to meet the individual’s needs and goals.  Adaptive paddling experiences are available to participants ages 7 and up.  OAS has trained staff and volunteer paddling guides as well as cutting edge adaptive equipment to accommodate a wide range of abilities.

OAS has tandem and solo kayaks, one stand up paddle board and two “straddleboards”.  OAS has a variety of adaptations for our boats and boards to accommodate most individuals.  All OAS paddling experiences include PFDs (life jackets), paddles, boats and any needed adaptive equipment.


OAS offers 2 and 4-6 hour private sessions for a wide range of people with disabilities in a variety of locations throughout Central Oregon.  Our staff and volunteers are trained to work with all of the specialized equipment.



2 hr paddling experiences in Bend: $60

4-6 hour (including transportation) experiences in the Cascade Lakes or flat-water sections of the Deschutes River: $85

OAS’s paddling season runs from late May to early September, depending on conditions. Lessons are offered any day of the week but scheduling in advance is required.  2 hour experiences in Bend can be scheduled to begin at 10:00am or 1:00pm.  4-6 hour experiences in the Cascades or remote sections of the Deschutes depart OAS at 9:00am, please meet at OAS HQ at 8:30am.

Scheduling in advance is required and important so we may accommodate everyone who would like to participate.



In Bend:

Riverbend Park, Mirror Pond, Discovery Park

Cascade Lakes:

Sparks Lake, Hosmer Lake, Lava Lake, Little Lava Lake

Deschutes River (outside of Bend):

Flat water stretch from Dillon up to Benham Falls



Accessible transportation is also available meeting at 9:30am or 12:30pm at the OAS Headquarters for 2 hour experiences in Bend.  For 4-6 hour experiences, transportation is encouraged to minimize impact at popular programming sites.  You may arrange to meet your guide(s) at the destination, inquire about this when booking your experience.



A new program this year!  Bring your family and friends to hike and kayak at Lava Lake nestled in the Deschutes National Forest. This is a community event to hang out and enjoy the outdoors with OAS anytime between 9 am and 4 pm.
