July 20th @ Slough Day Use Area: Bike, hike, paddle.
Join us for a full day of paddling, hiking, and mountain biking out of the Slough Day Use Area along the Deschutes River! Community Days are days where the OAS community, participants, volunteers, family, and friends alike, can come together to celebrate and participate in outdoor recreation for people of all abilities. Note that this is not a lesson setting.
During the Community Day at Slough Day Use Area we will bring our fleet of kayaks, tandem kayaks and paddle boards, as well as a few of our adaptive mountain bikes for folks to try. OAS staff will be present as well as assigned volunteers who are ready to assist individuals as needed. You are also encouraged to bring your own gear if you have it and recreate/socialize with everyone. You can also hike along the beautiful Deschutes River Trail looking for birds while enjoying the sights and sounds of this great stretch of river. Folks up for a bigger challenge can hike or bike all the way up to Benham Falls!
We will have a BBQ going from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. We will be grilling hamburgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs/brats, and veggie brats with associated fixings and some snacks!
You can show up anytime and stay for as long as you’d like. We will be set up and ready to go by 10:00am and will break down at 3:00pm. Accessible transportation is available, departing from the OAS Offices at 9:00am and returning at 4:00pm. You can email us to sign up for transportation, which is limited to a maximum of 12 individuals!
Things to Bring:
