Ski for Life Coach | ON-SNOW Volunteer Training
Interested in volunteering for our Ski for Life Youth Community Program? Beginning in January, OAS will host Life Skills students from the Bend/LaPine School District* to learn to ski and ride!
Students are paired with a Volunteer Coach every week, for a 4 week series. These sessions are offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Mornings, hosting a different classroom each day of the week.
Volunteers who attend this 2 hour, on-snow training will review beginner zone coaching tools and cover basic behavior management. Once the season begins, we ask that Volunteer Coaches commit to at least one 4 week series, meaning they are available to Volunteer Coach 1x/wk on the same day for four consecutive weeks.
For example: Tuesday mornings | January 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
This Training is open to all Return Volunteers and New volunteers who have completed an Intro to Assist Training. Both alpine ski and snowboard disciplines are welcome and will be mixed. Upon completion of this on-snow portion, Volunteers Coaches must also complete an online, 90min Safe Sport training (on their own time), and consent to a background check. This training is required to be Volunteer Coach on Ski for Life days.
On Snow Session Dates:
- Thursday, December 16th | 10:00am – 12:00pm | Sunrise Lodge @ Mt Bachelor
- Friday, December 17th | 10:00am – 12:00pm | Sunrise Lodge @ Mt Bachelor
* In accordance with Bend-LaPine School District policies, students attending Ski For Life are not required to be vaccinated.
