Volunteers are the core of Oregon Adaptive Sports. We welcome enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers age 18+ to join our team. There is no minimum time commitment to volunteer, the only requirement is to attend one new volunteer orientation and one annual season training. Please be familiar with the OAS Volunteer Manual and Disability Etiquette Pamphlet.
All volunteers may be subject to a background screening.
Winter Volunteers
Winter program volunteers are confident, intermediate to advanced riders that provide support for private alpine lessons, snowboard lessons, and community nordic sessions. OAS welcomes volunteers to participate with our adaptive winter programs at any of our three mountain locations: Hoodoo, Mt. Bachelor, and Mt. Ashland. Currently, OAS offers an adaptive nordic program at Mt. Bachelor.

Volunteer Role Descriptions
Program Volunteer Roles
Volunteer Technicians
Are you experienced with mountain bike suspension, ski binding mounting and adjustments, waxing/edging winter equipment, or the mechanics of adaptive equipment? Then we need your support as volunteer technicians are a necessary part of an athlete’s experience on the hill. Those interested can email the OAS equipment manager at jared@oregonadaptivesports.org on eligibility.
Volunteer Assist
Volunteer assistants work closely with an OAS instructor to handle equipment, aid the participant, and join in on the activity. Assistants will follow the lead of an instructor to best support the adaptive athlete.
Volunteer Coaches
Volunteer coaches provide basic instruction for athletes in group programs or students attending an OAS Ski for Life session. You will work closely with athletes to provide guidance towards skill development during their lesson. Coaches have previously assisted on private lessons with an instructor and are familiar with OAS protocols and procedures.
Volunteer Instructor
Instructors are trained to assume full responsibility for an OAS athlete, working closely with them to provide guidance towards their skill development potentially with the support of volunteer assistants. The Instructor’s role is to teach a lesson while facilitating independence. These are volunteers with significant experience and training.
Outreach & Administrative Volunteer Roles
Outreach Volunteers
Want to promote the #OASStoke to the community? We are looking for volunteers to represent OAS at our booth during community events. You will coordinate with an OAS staff member and support during the event by answering questions about OAS, setting up/take-down of booth, and being an amazing ambassador of OAS! Please plan on attending ether the Winter or Summer new volunteer orientation to get started with the onboarding process and email the OAS Development Director for more information.
Development Volunteers
After attending a new volunteer orientation, if you want to help support key campaigns through teamwork and cultivation of relationships with local community members. This may involve joining a committee for special events such as our First Chair Gala and Ski for All to supporting a booth at community fundraising events. Your support raises critical support and expands OAS’s reach. Please plan on attending ether the Winter or Summer new volunteer orientation to get started with the onboarding process and email the OAS Development Director for more information.
