Though we are not certain when things might happen, we are practicing ADAPTING. In the meantime, get excited and ready for summer. Here is a list of our 5 pre-summer prep to-dos that you can work on from the comfort of your home!

1. Move your body:

Any movement is good! Go for a walk, try an online workout, whatever it is you can do to keep you mind and body active will help with your summer endeavors.

2. Set goals:

Pick a trail, a distance or even a race that interests you! Give yourself something to train for that is beyond what you normally do but still feels within reach. If you are having trouble coming up with something, reach out to OAS for ideas or help developing goals!

3. Get gear:

Have you been wanting to get your own bike/kayak/etc so that you can adventure on your own? Or, maybe you are interested in pursuing an activity on your own but not sure what gear is available to you. Let us know! We’re happy to help you choose equipment, talk through options and help you find what grants are available to fund your adventures.

4. Make sure your gear is ready:

Don’t wait until you need it to make sure your gear is in working order… take it out, organize it and make sure everything works and fits! We can virtually help with any questions or recommend a shop in town (a handful are still doing repairs). We will also be posting some adaptive specific maintenance resources over the next month.

5. Take a deep breath:

The trails, lakes, rivers and mountains will be there when all of this passes. Remember that you are still a part of a strong and resilient community, and don’t hesitate to reach out to OAS if you need anything. Getting outside for fresh air regularly and often can make a world of difference in your day.
