Ambassadors of Stoke

OAS Ambassadors of Stoke

Meet the 2025/26 cohort of OAS Ambassadors:

OAS Ambassadors are adaptive athletes and community members who bring OAS programs to life across Oregon. They’ve experienced OAS firsthand as athletes and volunteers, and now they use that perspective to guide others. Whether mentoring new participants, representing OAS at events, or sharing their experiences to expand understanding of adaptive recreation, they help connect more people to the outdoors and create opportunities for others to thrive.

Ambassadors Contribute By:

  • Mentoring and guiding new athletes

  • Representing OAS in the community and at events

  • Sharing knowledge and experiences to expand access to adaptive recreation

Through their work, Ambassadors help advance OAS’s mission of creating access to high-quality outdoor recreation and move us closer to our vision of a day when every person with a disability can enjoy the benefits of the outdoors.

Ryan Barbee | Lead Ambassador

Ryan Barbee (she/her) has recently moved to Bend, OR, to fulfill her love of outdoor recreation and to connect with the amazing adaptive sports community that OAS has created. She was a ski racer growing up and was injured skiing in 2022. Ryan has been working hard with OAS ski instructors to get back out on the ski hill and become independent on the bi-ski, but adaptive mountain biking took her by surprise and has become her absolute favorite sport. Since getting her own adaptive mountain bike in 2024, she has competed in several enduro, downhill, and dual slalom bike races around the Pacific Northwest. Adaptive sports mean everything to Ryan, and she is incredibly excited to lead the OAS ambassador team with the goal of achieving the OAS mission: to provide access to high-quality outdoor recreation experiences for individuals with disabilities.

Anna Soens (she/her) is happiest outside. Snow or dirt, mountains or rivers. You’ll find Anna exploring and enjoying central Oregon (and beyond) while skiing, mountain biking, rafting, sailing, and climbing. She’s been an avid member of the OAS community since a climbing accident in 2015. Anna works as a wildlife biologist focused on local threatened and endangered species, and thus prays for snow for both personal and professional reasons. In her spare time, Anna can be found talking about/to chickens, falling asleep before it is socially acceptable, and making questionable choices like climbing mountains.

Ravi (he/him) lost both of his legs at 14 after being hit by a train. Being a local Central Oregonian, his parents found OAS and applied for a scholarship. He first skied with OAS in January 2009. After his lesson, he skied all day with his Dad and became hooked! In 2011, Ravi was invited to compete at Winter X Games in Aspen, in 2015 he won the Bronze in MonoX. Afterwards he began alpine training with the National Ability Center at Park City and now is a Para-Alpine national team member.

He raced with the U.S. Adaptive Alpine Ski Team from 1999 until 2010, competing in three Paralympics before retiring to earn a master’s in library and information science and begin a career in the field of knowledge engineering. These days he’s likely to be found on obscure parts of Mt. Bachelor, relishing the variable snow conditions. A Maine native, Carl has called the Northwest home since 2008. He lives in Bend with a wife, a kid, and a high-energy pup named Rosie.

Kenji Kumlin | OAS Ambassador

My name is Kenji Kumlin. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, and for a while, my family and I tried many different activities that were adaptive, until we found OAS when I was eight, and I have not turned back. For 10+ years, I have rocked with OAS with skiing, hiking, biking, and some rock climbing, from being bucketed then slowly gaining my independence to ski in a Mono-ski. I cannot thank OAS for the opportunity to gain my independence, and I am honored to be an ambassador to open doors to many others.

Now, Molly is a skier, mountain biker, kayaker, and trail enthusiast, often accompanied by her dog, Freya. That initial spark of connection with OAS stayed with her long after the snow melted and ultimately inspired her to move to Bend in August 2025. That fall, she began teaching at OSU- Cascades, while continuing to ski almost weekly with OAS, sharing her love of outdoor adventure and community with others.

Braden enjoys mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, basketball with supports, hiking, kayaking, working out with assistance, and—most of all—eating. Braden has been a year-round athlete at OAS for many years and is excited to join the ambassador team.

He discovered paracycling through Project Hero and, after experiencing a stroke in 2020, transitioned to trike racing. Since then, he’s become one of the top competitors in the world, earning multiple world and national titles.

Dennis first connected with Oregon Adaptive Sports while relearning how to snowboard, rediscovering both the thrill of the mountains and the family time that comes with them. When he’s not training, he can be found with his wife, Krista, and their two kids, biking, kayaking, climbing, and snowboarding together.
