Celebrating our Partnership with Mt. Bachelor: A Shared Commitment to Access, Excellence and Belonging

For decades, Oregon Adaptive Sports and Mt. Bachelor have worked side by side to make outdoor recreation more accessible for people with disabilities. The 2024/25 season marked another strong year in that partnership, with more athletes served, more opportunities created, and a new space designed to support what happens on the snow every day.

This winter, more than 1,200 adaptive skiing and Nordic experiences took place at Mt. Bachelor. Athletes of all ages, including veterans, youth, locals, and visitors, spent time on the mountain building skills, confidence, and connection. For many, it was their first time skiing. For others, it was part of a season-long routine that keeps them coming back.

Recognition has followed that work. In 2025, Powder Magazine ranked the Mt. Bachelor and Oregon Adaptive Sports partnership as one of the top adaptive ski programs in the country. That recognition highlights what many athletes and families already know: this is a place where people with disabilities can show up, try something new, and belong.

The partnership is about more than numbers. It is about creating access, building community, and making sure people with disabilities feel welcomed and supported in outdoor spaces. That work happens through close collaboration with Mt. Bachelor teams across the mountain, from ski school to lift operations to guest services, all working together to make each day run smoothly.

This season also brought a major milestone: the remodel of the Oregon Adaptive Sports office in Sunrise Lodge. For years, this space has been the starting point for winter program days. It is where athletes check in, instructors connect, and equipment gets organized before heading outside. As the program grew, the space needed to grow too.

In January, Oregon Adaptive Sports and Mt. Bachelor celebrated the remodel with a ribbon-cutting. The updated office is more open, more accessible, and better suited for busy program days. It reflects the strength of the partnership and the shared commitment to creating high-quality adaptive snowsports experiences.

Looking ahead, Oregon Adaptive Sports and Mt. Bachelor are focused on continuing to grow access. That includes expanding late-season skiing opportunities, welcoming more school and veteran groups, and finding new ways to invite people into adaptive recreation.

At its core, this partnership is about showing what is possible when two organizations commit to access, community, and quality experiences. Every lesson, every volunteer hour, and every turn on the snow is part of that shared story, one that continues to grow each season.
