“It was an amazing experience. I’d not have been able to it without OAS’s support. I am extremely thankful to OAS (and Cycle Oregon) for providing me this opportunity to achieve my dream and encourage me to dream for more.” Shubha Ratnaparkhi, OAS Athlete

Trip Report

Day One

Elgin Loops

Miles: 36 to 61 miles

Elevation Gain: 2,980 – 4,100 ft

Theme of the Day: Working through the rough spots!

Which route/day was your favorite? Why? What made it special?

“Day 1; sunshine, needing support up the steep gravel but making it as a team!” Max Woodbury, OAS Athlete

“When my battery ran out of power during the arduous gravel route on the first day, I was left feeling hopeless and worn out but Dan and Hayley had such optimistic attitudes that helped me persevere and continue moving forward. I was having doubts later that day of my ability and fitness level to complete the rest of the routes that week but the encouragement and great resources provided by OAS overcame those apprehensions. ” Matt Fritzie, OAS Athlete

Theme of the Day:Where there’s rain and hail, we go and above all thrive in an at-tack!

Was there a specific highlight for you during your week at Cycle Oregon? What was it?

“As odd as this might sound, that moment on Day 4 when most of the team was held up by the mischief maker out there in Enterprise who put down a bunch of thumbtacks and caused numerous flats. The team really came together in that moment of adversity. ” Dan Eller, OAS Volunteer

Day Five

Elgin to Enterprise

Miles: 46 miles

Elevation Gain: 1,663 ft

Theme of the Day: Pump it up!

“It was so great to spend the week with the OAS crew. In such a large group of cyclists, it was really nice to be able to have this smaller connected group to be in. It was also really nice for me to be able to take a back seat some of the time and watch others be excited about biking with Max and the other adaptive cyclists. It allowed me to not always be in a caregiver role and I really appreciate that.” Tali Woodbury, Family Member
