The McKenzie Pass Scenic Bikeway is a seasonal highway, only open to cars in the summer months when the high elevation snow has melted and the roads are cleared. In the late spring however, enthusiastic cyclists take advantage of the partially plowed roads from maintenance activity, to ride the pass while it is still closed to vehicle traffic.
Cyclists may start their ride along OR HWY 242 from Sisters, OR, or park at the gate for a shorter ride to the summit. Both rides are a rewarding experience and offer the same panoramic views of the Cascade Range.
